Islamic School

In 2003 Al Akram Trust established the first full time independent Islamic primary school in Derby. Alhamdulillah the school has grown and now has over 130 pupils. More recently the school has expanded to include secondary provision for girls.

Normanton House School is fully registered with the DfES, is an Edexcel Examination Centre and is routinely inspected by Ofsted.

“Normanton House School is a happy and harmonious community where pupils’ behaviour is outstanding.” Ofsted Feb 2008

“Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good. Despite the rapid growth in pupil numbers since the last inspection, this aspect of the school’s work has been maintained to a good standard. Teachers provide good role models for Islamic life and this has a positive impact on pupils’ moral and spiritual development.” Ofsted Mar 2011

Islam is central to all subjects taught. The curriculum is broad, balanced and relevant. The subjects taught include Qur'an, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language, English, Maths, Science, ICT, Craft and PE. Salaat is incorporated into the school day.

Guidance is taken from the Qur'an and Sunnah in every aspect of the education. Special effort is made to nurture in the students a profound love for ALLAH, The Exalted, for the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon Him) and for the Qur'an.

Sports Day and Presentation Day are annual events that the children enjoy very much. They can demonstrate their learning and enthusiasm in front of their parents, peers and community.

Normanton House School is independent in its finances and governance. It is funded by a combination of fees and donations and Al Akram Trust ensures that the distinctive Islamic character of the school is preserved.

With all gratitude and praise to ALLAH First and Foremost and then with gratitude to all (volunteer helpers, parents of pupils, pupils, teachers, supervisors, administration staff, trustees and public) the Normanton House (Islamic) School of the Al-Akram Trust (registered charity number 1077822) has in its Ramadhan Appeal of 1436H raised on initial accounting just over £40,000.

May ALLAH, The Exalted, Reward you all in return for your invaluable help a place in HIS Janna that covers this universe.

In addition to this we would like to announce that the pupils of the Normanton House (Islamic Girls Secondary) School who sat their GCSE exams 2 years earlier than the national norm all (100%) acheived the highest grade.

This is due to their very hard effort and the very hard effort of their teachers. We are grateful to all (helpers, parents, pupils, teachers, admin staff, organisers) who have had involvement of any in this effort.

We again are deeply grateful to you all out there for your continued support to us here at the Al-Akram Trust.

May ALLAH Grant you all the highest of Rewards in return.

Again and ultimately all praise and gratitude goes to our Most Gracious LORD ALLAH WHO Has Made all this be.

May the Peace and Mercy and Blessings of ALLAH Be upon you
